About the Role

We are looking for engineers to build products, owning the lifecycle of delivering products end to end. You will shape ideas with Product Managers, build it alongside engineering peers, ship it, measure it, and help decide what happens next. You'll build for one of the largest industries in the US and one of the least digitized, tackling complex rules like multi-rate overtime, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and union agreements. The role involves designing how contractors come to trust software that checks their work, delivering value one workflow at a time. We encourage AI-assisted development to prototype quickly and get working versions to customers within days. You’ll be working across our React front end and Laravel back-end hosted on AWS, with native iOS/Android apps also in our stack.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how contractors work by digging into customer research alongside product managers.
  • Learn the 'why' behind each workflow and identify breaking points.
  • Own the full product path from discovery through technical design, build, release, and iteration.
  • Make decisions on what to build, how to build it, and what to leave out, tying decisions to customer impact and company growth.
  • Contribute to design, review code, and help engineers improve.
  • Shape how software is built as the team grows.
  • Balance speed, accuracy, and simplicity on every project.
  • Explain technical decisions in plain language.
  • Prototype early using AI tools and test ideas.
  • Work with loose direction and autonomy, shaping fuzzy problems instead of waiting for a spec.

Requirements

  • Owned a product end to end, taking it from idea to production and staying accountable.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills with a front-end lean.
  • Ability to write clean production code with sound fundamentals.
  • Experience designing data models and architecture for real products.
  • Habit of understanding the people who use what you build.
  • High standards for simple, easy-to-use, and understandable experiences.
  • Ability to find simpler paths by weighing customer impact against engineering effort.
  • Viewpoint on agentic experiences and how products can take work off someone's plate.
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain technical decisions to various audiences.
  • Ability to ask for input early and involve others.
  • Comfort working without a map and with loose direction.
  • Ability to shape fuzzy problems.
  • An engineer who is also a product thinker.
  • Preference for shipping rough on Tuesday over perfect next month.
  • Care about code, but more about changing someone's day in the field.
  • Solve problems with others, challenging assumptions and making cases.
  • Desire to understand the customer's problem, own the experience, and build it.
  • Excited that AI allows for faster and better coding, freeing up time for product thinking.
