About the Role
Our CEO ships code using AI coding tools, turning customer conversations into working prototypes and open PRs. Your role is to take these PRs to production, ensuring they are production-grade and maintain accounting correctness.
Responsibilities
- Triage every CEO PR, assessing intent and deciding whether to ship, rebuild, split, or push back.
- Make code production-grade by adding types, tests, error handling, fixing N+1 queries, and ensuring adherence to existing patterns.
- Generate safe and proper migrations for deployment.
- Protect the ledger by ensuring no posts into closed periods, verifying model attributes, and respecting approval/audit flows.
- Ensure integrations hit sandbox endpoints outside of production.
- Keep AI features honest by implementing token tracking and spend-limit enforcement for all LLM calls.
- Guard reliability by routing errors through Sentry conventions, ensuring single failure reports, and surfacing customer-fixable problems.
- Close the loop by fixing root causes of recurring mistakes, potentially through improved scaffolding, conventions, or tooling.
- Say no well, clearly explaining why a PR shouldn't ship and offering alternative paths.
Requirements
- 4+ years of shipping production Python.
- Excellent code review instincts to identify potential production issues in large diffs.
- Strong judgment regarding patching, rewriting, or deleting code.
- Low ego and high candor, with the ability to push back on the CEO's code.
- Ability to reconstruct intent from incomplete specifications and ask clarifying questions.
- Speed and efficiency to manage the PR queue effectively.
