About the Role
Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) is seeking a Materials/Metallurgical Engineer to provide metallurgical and failure analysis services at its Material Science Center in Austin, Texas. This role involves analyzing failed or damaged metal components and providing consulting services to clients in the power and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities
- Review client needs related to failed or damaged metal components.
- Develop proposals for providing condition assessment or failure analysis services.
- Manage metallurgical laboratory projects through coordination of work scopes, interacting with lab technicians, reviewing and interpreting results, and preparing reports to provide findings and recommendations.
- Provide materials support to assist SI’s experienced teams of engineering staff.
- Provide consulting services to nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy clients.
- Manage root cause analysis investigations.
- Provide asset management and condition assessment services.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in metallurgy or materials engineering.
- 5 or more years of experience related to material science is desired.
- Specific experience in destructive laboratory testing, metallography, and failure analysis for power/industrial clients is a strong plus.
- Candidates should either have a PE license or have an identified path toward PE licensure.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task on different projects in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
- Willing to learn through experience and interaction with established industry experts.
