About the Role
Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) is seeking a Metallurgical Engineering Consultant to provide metallurgical and failure analysis services at SI’s Material Science Center in Austin, Texas. This laboratory-based position involves occasional technical support on field projects and offers potential for advancement to include management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Review client needs related to failed or damaged metal components.
- Develop proposals for providing condition assessment or failure analysis services.
- Manage metallurgical laboratory projects through coordination of work scopes, interacting with lab technicians, reviewing and interpreting results, and preparing reports to provide findings and recommendations.
- Provide materials support to assist SI’s experienced teams of engineering staff.
- Provide consulting services to nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy clients.
- Manage root cause analysis investigations.
- Provide asset management and condition assessment services.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in metallurgy or materials engineering.
- 15 years of experience related to metallurgical failure analysis consulting services.
- Project management experience is desired.
- Detailed knowledge of destructive laboratory testing, metallography, and microscopy related to power generation and general industrial component failures is desired.
- Candidates should either have a PE license or have an identified path toward PE licensure.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task on different projects in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
- Willing to learn through experience and interaction with established industry experts.
