About the Role

Panther is seeking an exceptional finance leader to partner with the CEO and Board on all financial matters, build the finance function from the ground up, and help steer the company through its next phase of growth, including product launches and scaling manufacturing. This role offers a path to CFO.

Responsibilities

  • Build out the finance team, starting with a Director of Finance and a Financial Analyst.
  • Select and implement an ERP system, including designing the chart of accounts, item master, and cost structure.
  • Establish standard costing and BOM-level unit economics for the first commercial product.
  • Deliver a reliable monthly close, budget, rolling forecast, and Board reporting package.
  • Play a central role in closing the Series B financing round, owning the financial model, data room, and diligence process.
  • Design the finance organization and develop the team.
  • Establish accounting policies, internal controls, and the monthly close process.
  • Lead ERP implementation from requirements through integrations and go-live.
  • Build metrics, dashboards, and Board reporting for real-time leadership visibility.
  • Understand and manage the cost structure, including standard and landed costs, BOM-level unit economics, and cost scaling.
  • Manage the working capital cycle, including inventory planning, supplier terms, and cash flow.
  • Account for post-shipment activities such as gross-to-net revenue, margins, returns, and sales tax.
  • Perform variance analysis on costs and build models to hold suppliers accountable.
  • Model platform economics, including investment cases, ROI, and capitalized software development costs.
  • Own the annual budget, rolling forecast, and multi-year financial plan.
  • Partner with go-to-market teams on pricing, channel economics, and revenue forecasts.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product, Engineering, and Operations on financial trade-offs.
  • Model partnership economics and track R&D and clinical costs.
  • Support the CEO on financing activities, including financial models, data room, and investor materials.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in finance, with at least 3 years leading finance at a smaller company that manufactures and sells a physical product (consumer, CPG, medical device or hardware).
  • Background in a larger-scale, unit-economics-driven operating environment, followed by hands-on experience building finance from the ground up at a smaller company.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills with the ability to clearly explain financial data to executives, the Board, and partners.
  • Experience hiring and managing finance teams.
  • Experience leading an ERP implementation from selection through go-live and running finance on that system.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals, including GAAP, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience in capital raising (equity, debt, or strategic financing).
  • Comfortable with technology and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
