About the Role

Turn data into insight that helps shape decisions, improve experiences and drive change within Corporate and Institutional Banking.

Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret information from financial statements, economic indicators, market trends and news.
  • Turn data into reports, visualisations and trade ideas.
  • Support traders with data collection, reporting and record-keeping.
  • Monitor market performance.
  • Assess risks and opportunities.
  • Build tools and models using Excel, VBA or Python.
  • Learn to use platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters and HSBC tools.
  • Work closely with market specialists to understand how data supports decisions in fast-moving markets.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in a mathematical or quantitative subject.
  • Completed an independent research project such as a Master’s thesis or PhD.
  • Experience in at least one object-oriented programming language.
  • Expertise in one or more areas such as machine learning, stochastic calculus, optimisation, numerical analysis, forecasting or Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Available to work full time for 10 weeks commencing June 2027.
  • Obtained, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or higher, or an overseas equivalent.
  • Studying towards an MSc or PhD.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Candidates requiring visa sponsorship will be considered.
