About the Role

This is the highest-leverage technical role at ConveneAI, shaping engagements, governing architecture across live pods, and leading technical craft through design review, mentorship, and reference architecture. You will remain hands-on, reading code, prototyping, and defending designs under scrutiny.

Responsibilities

  • Join client conversations during the sales cycle to assess technical feasibility and scope realistic production timelines.
  • Push back on unachievable requirements before they become contractual commitments.
  • Own architecture decisions impacting engagement profitability, including model selection and build versus buy choices.
  • Write technical proposal sections and help define measurable outcome metrics.
  • Represent ConveneAI in client architecture, security, and vendor review boards.
  • Run architecture reviews at kickoff and key gates for live engagements.
  • Make critical decisions regarding data residency, inference hosting, identity and access, network isolation, and integration patterns.
  • Unblock pods by pairing and reviewing, rather than taking over their work.
  • Own the technical escalation path for off-track engagements.
  • Monitor inference cost, latency, and reliability across engagements.
  • Own the ConveneAI reference architecture and accelerator library.
  • Set standards for agent design, evaluation, observability, security, and cost management.
  • Evaluate new models, frameworks, and tooling rigorously.
  • Build technical assets to enable smaller teams to achieve the output of larger teams.
  • Mentor GenAI Engineers and Data Engineers through design and code review.
  • Interview and calibrate technical hires and help define the engineering career path.
  • Collaborate with senior AI architects globally to ensure consistent standards.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years building and shipping enterprise software.
  • At least 2 years on production LLM or agentic systems used by real users.
  • Track record as a technical owner across multiple concurrent client engagements.
  • Deep hands-on capability in Python, cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), distributed systems, and API/integration design.
  • Production experience with agent architectures, enterprise-scale retrieval, evaluation, and AI system operations (cost, latency, observability, failure modes).
  • Enterprise architecture fluency, including identity and access, security posture, data residency, network isolation, and model hosting options.
  • Experience getting designs approved by regulated client review boards.
  • Commercial literacy, understanding the impact of architecture decisions on gross margin.
  • Credibility with both clients (CIO, Chief Architect) and engineers.
  • Judgement and standing to recommend against deals that cannot be delivered.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites.
