About the Role
The role of a Cost Manager is to manage the cost and legal processes of a construction project, ensuring projects are delivered within the client's approved budget. As an Intern, you will gain a broad understanding of the Cost Manager role, the wider business, and the construction and property industry through G&T's Industry Insights Programme.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost plans, forecasts, cash flow projections, contract documentation, and financial reports.
- Provide clients with clear and accurate advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support day-to-day project activities under supervisor guidance.
- Measure drawings using manual methods or software like CostX.
- Assist in preparing cost plans using measurements and construction process knowledge.
- Help prepare contract documentation, including preliminaries and pricing documents.
- Attend site visits and support work valuations, preparing necessary analysis and documentation.
- Support value engineering activities to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist with the collection, recording, and maintenance of project data.
Requirements
- Good A-Level grades or equivalent qualification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent working knowledge of current IT systems and applications.
- Understanding of client care importance and professional relationship development.
- Trustworthy, reliable, and professional conduct.
