About the Role
Oversee the planning, development, maintenance, security, and compliance of enterprise applications and systems, including the external website and internal portal, to support university operations. Implement information systems policies and strategies at a corporate level, focusing on security, reliability, usability, compatibility, and accessibility. Provide leadership to the Enterprise Systems and Data Integration team, ensuring the efficient use of technology resources and the improvement of IT procedures.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the planning, development, maintenance, security and compliance of all enterprise applications and systems
- Implementing information systems policies and strategies at the university-wide corporate level
- Providing leadership and direction to the Enterprise Systems and Data Integration team
- Ensuring the efficient use of technology resources
- Improving information technology procedures and processes
- Planning, design and implementation of new custom corporate applications
- Operational management of enterprise applications
- Integrating student and instructor data from partner enterprise systems and applications
- Providing technical support for UofGH corporate systems, related software infrastructure and multi-cloud applications
Requirements
- Minimum of a specialized University Degree in Computer Science or Computer Programming or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience successfully managing IT projects from initiation through completion, including project planning, resource allocation, budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams
- Proven experience designing and leading scalable, secure enterprise web applications, including APIs, microservices, front-end/back-end frameworks, and application architecture
- Strong experience with enterprise data integration, data modelling, database design, and performance optimization across databases, APIs, flat files, and third-party applications
- Hands-on experience with relevant development technologies and platforms, including Python, HTML/CSS, SQL, PHP/Laravel, JavaScript, Drupal, Linux, Docker, and modern application frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, access controls, and applicable legislation and standards (e.g., FIPPA, PIPEDA, GDPR)
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows server infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments, capacity planning, patching, monitoring, and system administration
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and network security
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including site architecture, permissions, governance, and Power Automate workflows
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate technical concepts into practical business solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare plans, analyses, recommendations, and technical documentation
