Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, accession, and transcribe clinical data information from all requisitions into the lab manager clinical data section.
  • Receive and sort medical requisitions by specialty.
  • Accession cases according to case types, meeting department productivity standards.
  • Accurately read, interpret, and transcribe clinical data from all requisitions, including handwritten information.
  • Identify and prioritize HIGH, STAT, and PRIORITY cases.
  • Identify samples that are not processed in-house (Send Out).
  • Assist in generating and managing reports as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Ensure requisitions are scanned into the OnBase system for company-wide access at the end of every accession.
  • Identify discrepancies between previously entered information and the requisition, documenting via quality assurance flag.
  • Collaborate with pathologists to streamline workflow, troubleshoot issues, and improve the entry process.
  • Apply client-specific instructions when applicable.
  • Compose and communicate correspondences between Lab and Medical Operations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor or department manager related to non-technical operations.

Requirements

  • Must possess strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be able to accurately read and interpret handwritten clinical data.
  • Must be able to correct spelling of all terms and words, including medical terminology.
  • This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Employees must abide by all applicable privacy and security standards.
  • Employees are expected to access PHI only when required to fulfill job duties.
