About the Role
This position is responsible for the dispatch and tendering of customer, co-pack, and inbound purchasing loads, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of product.
Responsibilities
- Dispatch and tendering of customer deliver loads.
- Dispatch and tendering of all co-pack and inbound purchasing loads.
- Work closely with logistics, scheduling, and plant locations to secure equipment and ensure timely, cost-effective product movement.
- Daily communication with the carrier base to secure equipment in advance.
- Collaborate with customer service, commodities, value-added whole birds, and scheduling to secure equipment.
- Contact the carrier base (approximately 80 carriers) for overflow orders, creating synergies with interplant dispatch and reducing deadhead costs.
- Work with the Scheduling Coordinator to reasonably schedule customer and interplant loads, ensuring compatibility with warehouse abilities and reducing detention costs.
- Track and trace current loads to ensure on-time delivery.
- Cross-training in all functions of the Dispatch group.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Willing to accept continual repetitive changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to work afterhours and weekends.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
- Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent transportation experience.
