About the Role
The MRI technologist assistant will perform daily clinical and administrative duties to serve MRI patients, including checking patients in, ensuring their comfort, and assisting the High-Risk Department with safety screenings, record organization, and specimen kit preparation.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve and triage voicemails from patients and referring doctors’ offices
- Check in MRI patients and blood draw patients
- Monitor daily dashboards
- Prepare patient charts for the next day
- Perform electronic billing of services
- Maintain cancellation list and contact patients for last-minute appointments
- Prepare blood and buccal specimen kits for genetic testing
- Oversee completion of consent paperwork for genetic testing
- Prepare patient educational materials for newly diagnosed patients
- Ensure cleanliness of the waiting room
- Support an efficient, on-time daily schedule
- Stock gowns, juice, and snacks
- Scan and fax documents
- Update MRI consent form with upcoming patients via phone
- Review screening form with patient in prep room
- Reassess patient safety for MRI
- Review MRI procedures with patients during and after completion
- Establish IV access
- Assist MRI tech with patient positioning on the table
- Attend to emergencies or complications during MRI
- Draw up Gadolinium and Normal Saline into auto injector
- Assist in sanitizing the MRI machine between patients
- Prep IV kits
- Stock the prep room and MRI room
- Assist with MRI guided biopsy
- Review consent for biopsy and protocol after biopsy
- Review premedications with patients
Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience working in a healthcare practice or hospital
- Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail is essential
