About the Role
The LPN will provide high-quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in an office setting, supporting providers, patients, and families to promote a healthy future. LPNs perform nursing functions according to policy and management direction.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate customer satisfaction through respectful, courteous, confidential, and caring interactions.
- Provide and assist with direct patient care, including exam/procedure prep, screenings, initial assessments, patient exams, and clinical procedures.
- Administer and document medications, immunizations, and obtain specimens as ordered.
- Assist providers with clinical procedures and conduct catheterizations.
- Administer nebulizer treatments and obtain respiratory measurements.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.
- Assist with stocking supplies and preparing rooms and equipment.
- Schedule visits appropriately and sensitively to patient needs.
- Gather patient information by telephone and prepare/review patient records.
- Communicate with parents/patients regarding visit questions, follow-up instructions, or scheduling.
- Provide health education and teaching to parents/patients as directed.
- Accurately communicate necessary information to pharmacies, including verbal prescription requests or prior authorizations.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
- Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings.
- Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.
- Coordinate care with disease management as directed.
- Follow policy/procedure for performing, recording, and reporting laboratory tests, maintaining universal precautions and infection control.
- Protect the privacy and security of confidential patient information.
- Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the nurse manager or a provider.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to perform bending, squatting, reaching, and carrying.
- Must be able to lift, pull, bend, or assist to physically restrain a combative patient.
- Required to talk and hear through direct patient contact and telephone conversation.
- Requires close vision work with computer and keyboard entry.
- Tasks may involve exposure risk to blood and body fluids.
- Must observe guidelines to guard against disease, accidental needle sticks, and exposure to instrument sterilizing chemicals.
- Will be employed under MHA’s general employment policies.
- Will be held accountable for patient confidentiality both within and outside the office setting.
