About the Role

HUD is seeking a Product Engineer to address significant product challenges and deliver user experiences across its platform and marketplace. This role involves collaborating with various teams to identify user pain points, define product improvements, and implement solutions, blending product judgment, interaction design, and full-stack engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Identify friction points in creating, testing, evaluating, and discovering RL environments through user and internal team discussions, and translate these into product priorities.
  • Design, prototype, and launch product enhancements for HUD's platform and marketplace, managing the entire lifecycle from problem definition to iteration.
  • Enhance the clarity and usability of agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback through intuitive interfaces and workflows.
  • Develop frontend and backend components to streamline vendor onboarding, environment submission, review, and discovery for research teams.
  • Utilize user feedback and product data to evaluate effectiveness, refine user experiences, and inform product, design, and engineering trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of shipping software products end-to-end, from user problem identification through implementation and iteration.
  • Strong product judgment, including identifying underlying issues, scoping effectively, and making sound trade-offs with incomplete information.
  • Interaction design skills with a focus on clarity and usability in complex technical workflows.
  • Full-stack engineering capabilities, including building polished web interfaces and supporting backend services or APIs.
  • Comfort engaging directly with users and leveraging qualitative feedback and product data for improvements.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, and other partners.
  • Experience with developer tools, data-rich products, marketplaces, or products serving distinct user groups is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data is advantageous.
  • Experience designing workflows for review, debugging, quality feedback, or complex operational tasks is beneficial.
  • Experience identifying and owning product gaps within a growing, cross-functional team is desirable.
