About the Role
You'll be Cyvl's only product designer, owning the customer experience from sensor to platform. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will collaborate with PMs and engineers, engaging directly with public works teams to shape and deliver solutions. As the company grows, you will build and lead the design function. This role focuses on pure product design for user interfaces that public works crews will use to manage real-world infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Run discovery with public works teams to understand their needs and identify product friction points.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to build and ship product features, potentially contributing to the code.
- Translate complex data (LiDAR, imagery, condition) into easily understandable interfaces for public works directors.
- Utilize customer data and product analytics to identify areas for improvement and make decisions on fixes.
- Manage the design system and influence the platform's visual direction.
- Contribute to the field-capture experience in collaboration with the hardware team.
Requirements
- Startup experience with 5+ years designing B2B enterprise software in a high-growth, VC-backed startup.
- Experience in product management, engineering, or industrial design is a plus.
- Demonstrated customer obsession, with a preference for field observation over theoretical design.
- Ability to translate customer feedback into sound business decisions and build trust with clients.
- Proven track record of shipping UX changes directly to production code.
- A portfolio showcasing the ability to simplify complex systems.
- Fluency in data and AI concepts, comfortable with codebases and analytics, and understanding of data models and AI/ML for design purposes.
