About the Role
The Tenderloin Tech Lab (TTL) is the Tenderloin’s only free technology center specializing in bridging the digital divide. You’ll be joining a team that offers free Drop-in services, computer classes, and one-on-one tutoring. All of our services are designed specifically for the learning styles of adults experiencing poverty, addiction, mental health challenges, or homelessness. Staff also maintain Link-SF which is San Francisco’s first mobile-optimized website that connects homeless and low-income residents with critical and life-saving resources nearby. In the spirit of our Franciscan values and heritage, our team provides compassion and care daily. As a steward of healing and social justice, you are expected to meet the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a calm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere for guests.
- Troubleshoot tech issues for guests in the drop-in lab.
- Assist guests in accessing St. Anthony’s services and programs.
- Maintain up-to-date information on internal programs and other social services.
- Implement and enforce program procedures and guidelines for community safety.
- Treat all guests with empathy, dignity, and respect.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively across cultures.
- Lead the front desk by answering phones and front door inquiries.
- Schedule appointments for guests and staff.
- Supervise 5-10 Tech Lab volunteers.
- Act as the supervisor of the day on weekdays or weekends as needed.
- Track participant and/or program data through databases.
- Enter data and information electronically.
- Look up data and reports electronically through a database.
- Provide administrative support for inventory of office supplies.
- Complete reports and all other paperwork.
- Participate in regular training and development opportunities.
- Understand and follow the organization's programs, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in relevant meetings supporting team communication.
- Collaboratively work with others to achieve team success.
- Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively.
- Consistently demonstrate integrity while working and representing St. Anthony’s.
- Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with colleagues.
- Proactively seek support from team members or management.
- Demonstrate cooperation with coworkers, management, and the community.
Requirements
- Have at least 2 years of front desk or customer services experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm.
- Ability to set limits and practice professional boundaries with guests and coworkers.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.
- Ability to use information and communication technologies (computers, smartphones, and iPads) to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.
- Experience using and troubleshooting computer programs like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, and Outlook.
- Ability to be punctual, reliable, cooperative, and stay team-oriented.
- Experience with conflict de-escalation skills is preferred.
- Must complete Crisis Prevention training within 6 months of hire.
- P.R./First Aid certification preferred.
- Must complete certification within 6 months of hire.
- Experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness or poverty.
- Proficiency in a second language is strongly desired (Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog, Cantonese).
- Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor.
