About the Role

The Membership Advisor will own a long-term, personal relationship with an assigned portfolio of applicants and Members, from initial application through the full life of their membership. This role is akin to a private banking relationship manager or luxury clienteling advisor, focusing on building trust and fostering belonging and retention. The Advisor will also manage The Battery's House Account program, a corporate hospitality product.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the personal relationship with an assigned portfolio of applicants and Members, serving as their consistent point of contact.
  • Provides a tailored welcome and tour to prospective Members.
  • Guides applicants through the application process.
  • Runs a structured onboarding and check-in cadence for new Members.
  • Develops a genuine understanding of each Member's interests and goals, making relevant introductions and recommendations.
  • Recognizes and addresses early signs of Member disengagement.
  • Supports renewal by reviewing portfolio engagement and addressing concerns.
  • Owns the relationship with House Account holders, from initial outreach through ongoing account management.
  • Leads prospecting and outreach for new House Account opportunities.
  • Manages the sales and negotiation process for new House Accounts.
  • Conducts regular check-ins with House Account holders to ensure engagement and satisfaction.
  • Tracks House Account renewals and addresses at-risk accounts.
  • Maintains accurate House Account records in Sonato/CRM systems.
  • Gathers Member feedback and routes it to the accountable department owner.
  • Maintains accurate relationship and portfolio records in Sonato/CRM systems.
  • Does not make or influence admissions decisions.
  • Does not act as a personal assistant to Members.
  • Does not pressure Members for nominations.
  • Does not resolve issues owned by other departments, but ensures they are routed and followed up on.

Requirements

  • Background in luxury hospitality, private club membership, or relationship/client management preferred.
  • Experience managing an active portfolio of client or Member relationships.
  • Experience in B2B account management, corporate partnerships, or sales preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Flexibility with schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed for Club events.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
  • Basic computer skills, including comfort learning new CRM/database software.
  • Must possess the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch, and sound.
  • Must be able to respond to visual or aural cues.
  • Continuously or periodically bend, twist, lean, kneel, walk, stand, and/or sit up to 8+ hours per shift.
  • Lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Strong organizational skills for managing a multi-person relationship portfolio over long time horizons.
  • Genuine curiosity about people; naturally relationship-oriented rather than transaction-oriented.
  • Comfortable with long relationship cycles rather than short sales cycles.
  • Comfortable with structured sales and negotiation conversations for corporate accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
