About the Role
The Mayor's Infrastructure Coordination Service is partnering with the New Homes Accelerator London programme to address housing delivery barriers. As a Senior Technical Project Officer, you will manage high-profile projects and technical processes, coordinating infrastructure and development. You will bring together partners to resolve utility connection challenges affecting housing delivery, combining project management, stakeholder engagement, technical analysis, and policy development. This role utilizes innovative digital tools and infrastructure data to support decision-making, monitor performance, identify improvements, and develop new approaches for lasting sector change. It offers a unique opportunity to influence London's infrastructure and housing agenda, impacting new home delivery and future city planning.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects and technical workstreams supporting the New Homes Accelerator London programme and the wider Infrastructure Coordination Service.
- Build relationships with developers, utility providers, London boroughs, government departments, and other partners to coordinate activity and drive positive outcomes.
- Utilize infrastructure data, digital tools, and mapping systems for technical analysis and project delivery support.
- Coordinate stakeholders with differing priorities, facilitate discussions, and build consensus around solutions.
- Monitor project performance, analyze data, and identify opportunities for process and program improvement.
- Support the development of policy, best practice, and strategic recommendations for infrastructure coordination and housing delivery.
- Prepare presentations, briefings, and reports for senior leaders and decision-makers.
- Collaborate with technical specialists to resolve issues, develop delivery plans, and support innovative approaches.
- Stay updated on policy, regulatory, and industry developments affecting infrastructure delivery and development in London.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in engineering, infrastructure, development, planning, construction, or a related field.
- Experience successfully managing complex projects or programmes, including planning, stakeholder management, delivery monitoring, and achieving outcomes within timescales and budgets.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and building effective partnerships across public and/or private sector organizations.
- Knowledge of infrastructure and utility networks, understanding how utility connection processes, infrastructure constraints, and stakeholder interactions affect development delivery.
- Strong analytical skills with experience gathering, interpreting, and presenting data to support decision-making, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing high-quality reports, presentations, briefings, and visual materials for various audiences.
- Problem solving: Clarifies ambiguous problems, questions assumptions, challenges the status quo, seeks diverse perspectives, and initiates consultation for process improvement.
- Research and analysis: Expands networks for information, implements methods for high-quality intelligence, encourages diverse data analysis, tailors research investment, and maintains a big-picture view for practical recommendations.
- Planning and Organising: Prioritizes work, makes contingency plans, identifies and consults with sponsors/stakeholders, pays attention to detail, and negotiates realistic timescales.
