About the Role

Join our Commercial (Tenant) team as an Intermediate Electrical Designer, taking an active role in the design and delivery of commercial tenant improvement and renovation projects. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced consulting environment, developing electrical designs, coordinating with other disciplines, and addressing project issues. This role offers opportunities to work directly with clients, understand their needs, resolve technical issues, and deliver practical solutions. As an Intermediate Designer, you will gain increasing ownership of project work, manage deliverables and deadlines, and provide guidance to junior designers while developing your technical, communication, and consulting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently creates concept designs and design specifications.
  • Assesses constructability on a regular basis.
  • Creates documentation and drawings from conceptual ideas.
  • Applies tools and methodologies for product and service delivery (e.g., AutoCAD, HHA Drawing Standards, Plotters).
  • Ensures technical accuracy of project deliverables.
  • Accountable for all designs through to construction completion.
  • Manages and prioritizes own project activities to meet project deadlines.
  • Reviews work of more junior designers for conventional projects.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with clients on assigned projects.
  • Liaises with clients to determine design requirements and resolve issues.
  • Ensures timesheets, logs, and files are accurate and up to date.
  • Works independently with general supervision in solving difficult problems.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related electrical/electromechanical technology program.
  • 4+ years of relevant electrical consulting or building systems design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and documenting electrical systems for building projects.
  • Experience working on projects within the commercial, healthcare, institutional, or other buildings sectors is considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience coordinating electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines.
  • Strong technical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to review drawings and deliverables for technical accuracy and constructability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with project team members, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Forward-thinking and eager to learn, apply best practices, and contribute practical technical solutions.
  • Strong interest in buildings, building systems, and the built environment.
