About the Role
Relay is reshaping how goods move in an online era, backed by significant funding and aiming to free commerce from friction. This role focuses on leveraging rich location and movement data to improve delivery operations, making the online shopping experience seamless and accessible.
Responsibilities
- Define how we measure the quality of our geospatial data, identifying gaps, quantifying their impact, and prioritizing improvements.
- Continuously evolve our location datasets.
- Own the technical strategy and roadmap for Relay's geospatial data solutions.
- Partner with engineering to productionize and integrate solutions into the delivery operation.
- Build observability into pipelines for data quality detection, understanding, and action.
- Build reusable data products and define core metrics that add value across the business.
- Coach and mentor other data scientists on technical approach, production standards, and problem decomposition.
Requirements
- Deep experience with geospatial data, telemetry, or GPS trace processing.
- Love maps and urban geography.
- Motivated by complex problems with high impact.
- Understand what it takes to own a production data product end to end, treating observability, testing, and incident response as core responsibilities.
- Care about the people your work affects — couriers, retailers, and internal teams.
- Combine strong technical fundamentals with entrepreneurial drive.
