About the Role

This role is crucial for bringing external creative visions to life, ensuring our projects are visually compelling and executed to the highest standards. Partner with extraordinary artists to create work that reaches hundreds of millions of people around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with internal designers and art directors to understand project needs and identify suitable external illustrators, animators, and visual artists.
  • Manage the end-to-end commissioning process from concept to final delivery, including artist research, outreach, negotiation and selection.
  • Actively stay engaged with the global art, and design industries to discover emerging talent and build relationships with agencies.
  • Negotiate scope, usage rights, terms, and costs with artists and their agents to ensure fair agreements and budget.
  • Understand and execute Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), contracts, and become deeply familiar with the legal terms and usage associated with commissioned artwork.
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed project status tracker for all live art buying projects (potentially 15+ time).
  • Maintain and update internal artist databases and resources, making it easy for the team to access information and templates.
  • Identify recurring inefficiencies in current processes and proactively suggest improvements to streamline workflows.
  • Serve as a clear, calm, and steady communicator, effectively bridging the gap between internal teams and external creative talent.
  • Translate creative briefs into clear, digestible objectives for internal and external partners.
  • Work collaboratively across different time zones and with a diverse group of team members, fostering a positive and productive environment.
  • Actively support and guide internal art directors to creatively problem solve for their needs, anticipating potential problems before they arise.

Requirements

  • Deep interest in illustration, design, animation, and typography.
  • Proven experience in commissioning commercial art or managing creative projects.
  • Enjoy bringing order to complexity, keeping things organised and up-to-date.
  • Comfortable with financial negotiations and understanding contractual agreements related to creative work.
  • Can comfortably juggle multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and maintain a calm demeanour when working under pressure or navigating ambiguity.
  • Adept at anticipating change, reacting efficiently, and proactively seeking out new talent and industry trends.
  • Excel at clear, concise communication, both written and verbal.
  • A true team player.
  • Comfortable using design tools like Photoshop and Keynote for presentation support.
  • Handle confidential materials and sensitive issues with the utmost discretion.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
  • Passionate about connecting great creative talent with impactful projects.
