About the Role

Pepper is seeking a detail-oriented Design Assistant to support the intimates, swimwear, and activewear design team on a part-time basis. This role involves turning approved designs into production-ready tech packs, maintaining linesheets and BOMs, and building material standards to streamline development.

Responsibilities

  • Turn approved seasonal sketches into tech packs by creating style folders, assigning style numbers, and building protoforms.
  • Build BOMs for new styles as part of tech pack setup.
  • Ensure every tech pack is complete and accurate, and submit it to the Designer for review and approval before handoff to Tech Design.
  • Maintain linesheets for seasons in active development, including style drops, new styles, and design edits.
  • Recolor CADs as colorways and assortments are finalized.
  • Keep linesheets current with vendor updates.
  • Partner with the Designer to edit, update, and maintain linesheets once a season moves into development.
  • Support the consolidation and organization of materials across vendors.
  • Build and maintain Material Cheat Sheets and Libraries organized by category.
  • Help reduce material duplication, improve consistency across styles, and ease order minimum challenges.
  • Provide research and organization to support the Designer and Product Development teams.
  • Update BOMs with material and trim changes coming out of fittings.
  • Keep BOMs accurate and aligned with tech packs and linesheets.
  • Help organize and enter styles, materials, BOMs, colors, and other product information into PLM systems.
  • Make sure the PLM is populated consistently and accurately.
  • Attend in-person/virtual fittings and take live notes.
  • Update tech packs during or immediately after fittings with changes to construction, measurements, and design details.
  • Update protoforms with fit changes the same day, so the team is always working from current information.

Requirements

  • Lives in the NYC Tri-State area with the ability to join in-person fittings at our NYC office up to 1X/week max.
  • 2–3 years of experience in apparel design or product development, ideally in intimates.
  • Working knowledge of bra construction and components (elastics, hook and eyes, strap hardware, cups, etc.).
  • Experience building and maintaining tech packs and BOMs.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for CAD recoloring and linesheets.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of organization.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a live setting, like taking notes and updating documents during fittings.
  • Clear communicator who's comfortable working independently and knowing when to escalate decisions.
