About the Role

This role contributes to Starbucks UK's success by managing a portfolio of licensed accounts, delivering profitable sales and new store growth, and strengthening brand standards and customer experience. The Business Manager owns account performance across operating income, new store targets, and customer experience, combining commercial insight, joint business planning, portfolio development, and in-store observation to turn data into action and build mutually beneficial licensee relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of key performance measures for assigned accounts, including operating income, new store targets and customer experience.
  • Act as the principal relationship lead for licensee counterparts and ensure Joint Business Plan initiatives are delivered to agreed timescales.
  • Lead account business planning, tailoring the approach to licensee and brand needs, and supporting the Senior Manager and Director Chanel Licensing to shape the wider planning process.
  • Create portfolio growth plans through market mapping, with detailed 12-month actions and a broader three-year view covering new stores, refurbishments and lease renewals.
  • Agree implementation plans for Starbucks initiatives and use store visits and operational insight to improve execution, product quality and business results.
  • Prioritize account deliverables while supporting the Senior Manager and wider Licensing team as business needs require.
  • Identify performance trends, risks and capability gaps, and translate these into clear actions with licensee leaders.
  • Communicate Starbucks priorities clearly and build collaborative relationships by understanding each licensee business and adapting the approach where needed.
  • Strengthen licensee capability and self-sufficiency while recognizing strong performance and sharing best practice.
  • Ensure contractual and operational compliance requirements are met, with clear records and agreed action for any non-compliance.
  • Protect the Starbucks brand and consistently role-model our culture, Mission and Values.
  • Build strong relationships across Licensing, Store Development, Retail Operations and Starbucks support functions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and use financial and operational insight to improve account performance.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders in third-party organizations and influence effectively at different levels.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, with operational and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bring relevant experience from retail, hospitality, account management or another sector with transferable skills.
  • Understand how customer experience supports growth and use sound judgment to balance Starbucks and licensee needs.
  • Work effectively across functions and within a matrixed organization to deliver shared outcomes.
  • Operate as a self-starter, comfortable working independently in a field-based role, travelling across the UK and contributing as part of a wider team.
