About the Role
The Renewable Energy Investment Associate will support the RETC originations platform, ensuring new deal structuring and pricing, business and credit approval, closing execution, and post-closing financial modeling for RBC’s investments in renewable energy tax credit transactions. The role involves close collaboration with team members and internal RBC partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide business approval and credit support for RETC transactions, including identifying and managing renewable energy investment risks.
- Perform financial modeling and analysis for lower and upper tier RETC transactions throughout their lifecycle.
- Conduct due diligence on investment opportunities, including KYC procedures, tax equity document review, site visits, and analysis of third-party reports.
- Support transaction management and negotiation through closing and final true-up, serving as a primary or secondary contact with the Sponsor until stabilization.
- Manage equity deployment according to partnership operating agreement requirements, review funding requirements for accuracy and compliance, and prepare equity requests for approval.
- Oversee transactions by analyzing performance data and providing technical assistance on project performance and managerial strategy to ensure continuous tax credit benefits and cash flow.
- Expedite the receipt of financial and operational information, identify developing problem patterns, and escalate issues for further investigation.
- Support financial modeling and disposition analysis at the end of the credit period or other dissolution events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing Sponsors and industry contacts to gather current information.
- Proactively identify and escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies, and risks to management and relevant functions.
- Review and comply with applicable Firm Policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
- Renewable energy project finance experience.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Specific tax equity experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS-Office applications.
