About the Role
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate to support innovative laboratory research projects that have the potential to improve patient outcomes and expand scientific knowledge. In this role, you'll work alongside researchers and investigators, conducting experiments, analyzing data, processing biological samples, and helping drive studies from concept to discovery. This is an excellent opportunity for a curious, detail-oriented scientist who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and wants to make a meaningful impact through research.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments and specialized testing in support of ongoing research studies and scientific investigations.
- Collect, analyze, and accurately document research data and experimental results.
- Assist with the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of laboratory methods and research procedures.
- Process and prepare blood, tissue, and other biological samples for a variety of research applications.
- Isolate cells and other biological materials used in pre-clinical and clinical research projects.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Create data summaries, charts, and reports using scientific software and data analysis tools.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and ensure supplies, reagents, and materials are available to support research activities.
- Assist investigators in implementing new techniques and procedures published in scientific literature.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with established standards.
- Support the day-to-day operation of laboratory and research facilities.
- Collaborate with researchers, students, trainees, and laboratory staff to advance research goals.
- Stay current with scientific advancements through literature reviews, educational programs, conferences, and training opportunities.
Requirements
- Experience working in a laboratory or research setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific procedures, and data collection methods.
- The ability to organize, analyze, and interpret research data.
- Experience working with biological samples, laboratory equipment, and scientific instrumentation.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Enjoy hands-on laboratory work and experimental research.
- Naturally curious and eager to learn new scientific techniques.
- Take initiative when solving research challenges.
- Value teamwork and knowledge sharing.
- Motivated by contributing to discoveries that may improve patient care and outcomes.
- Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
