About the Role

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide hands-on technology support across our campus. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of computers, devices, applications, and technology systems used by employees, clinicians, and researchers, directly impacting patient care and research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, software applications, and peripheral equipment.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows, macOS, and iOS devices.
  • Support printers, scanners, barcode scanners, webcams, headsets, and other technology tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
  • Respond to service requests and incidents with exceptional customer service and clear communication.
  • Coordinate technology installations, upgrades, and deployments to minimize end-user disruption.
  • Support technology projects from planning through implementation.
  • Provide one-on-one technical assistance and training to employees.
  • Document issues, solutions, and project updates through established IT service management processes.
  • Collaborate with networking, cybersecurity, telecommunications, infrastructure, and application support teams.
  • Assist with testing and evaluating new hardware, software, and technology solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve technology performance and recommend equipment upgrades.
  • Serve as a hands-on technology resource during implementations, transitions, and system rollouts.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical technology support.

Requirements

  • Customer-focused technology professional who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new systems, and helping others succeed.
  • Experience supporting desktop, laptop, and mobile device environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to stay calm and resourceful when solving complex technical issues.
