About the Role

The GSOC Supervisor provides shift-level leadership within New York Life’s 24/7 Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), overseeing Analysts and directing daily operations. This role involves guiding responses to external events and physical-security incidents, reviewing intelligence products, and ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation to protect employees, facilities, and business operations worldwide. This is a physical-security operations, intelligence, and supervisory role, not a cybersecurity position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned shift operations to ensure GSOC responsibilities, standard operating procedures, and escalation protocols are consistently followed
  • Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of GSOC Analysts and assist with the development and review of GSOC standard operating procedures
  • Review Analyst communications, reports, and other intelligence products for accuracy, relevance, and appropriate content prior to dissemination
  • Oversee monitoring and analysis of geopolitical, security, and other external events that may affect New York Life employees, executive travel, company events, facilities, or business operations, and ensure appropriate escalation and response
  • Oversee physical-security system monitoring and provide guidance on alarms, suspicious activity, and other events requiring assessment
  • Oversee the response to building security incidents, provide directions to GSOC Analysts, and ensure appropriate escalation of events affecting employee safety or office operations
  • Coordinate the GSOC’s crisis-management response, including incident escalations, emergency communications, and timely updates to responding teams and leadership
  • Support GSOC shift scheduling and ensure adequate staffing coverage, including coordinating PTO, call-outs, schedule changes, and other staffing needs
  • Ensure incidents, actions taken, and follow-up activity are accurately documented in the case management system and that relevant information is communicated during shift turnover

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as criminal justice, intelligence studies, emergency management, or homeland security, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in security operations, emergency communications or dispatch, intelligence, corporate security, or a similar 24/7 monitoring environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise incident communications and briefings and provide timely guidance to GSOC Analysts and stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess incomplete or evolving information, exercise sound judgment, provide direction to GSOC Analysts, and escalate incidents in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with, or ability to learn, incident-management frameworks, intelligence systems, case-management tools, access-control and video-management systems, and escalation procedures
  • Working knowledge of physical security, geopolitical risk, and technology or operational disruptions that may affect employee safety, facilities, or business operations, including the ability to evaluate source credibility
  • Working knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques and social media platforms used for threat research, incident monitoring and situational awareness purposes
  • Ability to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 schedule, including day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage, and extended hours during significant incidents or crisis periods. Must remain on duty until properly relieved
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive security and employee information appropriately
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, provide direction to others, and remain professional and composed during high-pressure situations
