About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior UX Designer, Design Systems to own and evolve the design system that powers our suite of digital tax products. You’ll be responsible for maintaining sharp components, consistent patterns, and a scalable system as the product grows. This is a craft-first individual contributor role for a designer who obsesses over details like token naming, component behavior, and documentation clarity, possessing the UX breadth to understand system impact and technical curiosity to collaborate with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to authority for our design system, setting and maintaining standards for component building, naming, documentation, and usage.
  • Educate and support designers on system usage, fostering a culture of understanding and trust.
  • Identify and prioritize gaps, inconsistencies, and debt within the system for impactful improvements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure accurate translation of design system components into code.
  • Partner with product designers to gather feedback and evolve components and patterns.
  • Engage with Product and Visual Design to ensure new patterns align with product needs and visual standards.
  • Serve as a critical partner in design system governance, contributing design and craft perspectives.
  • Design, build, and maintain a library of reusable Figma components with clear documentation.
  • Own and maintain the token and variable architecture in Figma for scalability and synchronization with engineering.
  • Write and maintain clear, practical documentation for components and patterns, including usage guidelines and implementation notes.
  • Integrate accessibility into the system from the ground up, ensuring compliance with WCAG, ARIA, and contrast ratio standards.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of product/UX design experience, with significant time spent owning or contributing to an enterprise-level design system.
  • Proven track record of building, maintaining, and scaling component libraries adopted by product teams.
  • Financial, enterprise, or B2B background is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability with AI tools and processes that accelerate design and research.
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating design system thinking and execution.
  • Deep Figma expertise in variables, tokens, component properties, auto-layout, and library management.
  • Solid understanding of how design systems translate into code.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and component-based frameworks (React, etc.) is a meaningful plus.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on naming conventions, component states, and edge cases.
  • Systems thinking ability to understand the ripple effect of component decisions across a product suite.
  • Comfortable at the intersection of design and engineering, able to communicate effectively with both disciplines.
  • All candidates must include a digital portfolio or link in their application.
