About the Role
The Coordinator, Communications provides support to the COC's Communications department, managing a portfolio of projects, supporting the production of communications materials, providing logistical support for events, and maintaining communications platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, delivery, and reconciliation of one major impact communications project.
- Develop and maintain communications project plans using Asana.
- Support the execution and tracking of project deliverables.
- Coordinate operational needs with COC Functional Area Leads and Mission Team.
- Liaise with external partners to ensure support for Games deliverables.
- Support the planning and execution of Team Announcements.
- Plan and deliver medium or smaller impact communications projects.
- Support the planning, project management, and delivery of various communications projects and events.
- Assist in drafting and distributing communications materials.
- Support in analyzing media engagement and drafting earned media reports.
- Maintain and service the communications inbox.
- Collaborate on the communications content calendar and maintain key dates.
- Monitor international, national, and regional media and share relevant clippings.
- Contribute to communications reports.
- Maintain communications-owned platforms including Wordpress, Photoshelter, and MailChimp.
- Maintain communications team Sharepoint, Google Drives, and internal filing systems.
- Support the execution of translation services.
- Coordinate communication team's administrative duties.
- Collaborate on back-end maintenance of the COC's photo platform, including user onboarding and filing system maintenance.
- Liaise with COC photo editor, photography contractors, NSOs, and media to fulfill photo requests.
- Coordinate photoshoots for the communications team, working with external photographers, ensuring guidelines, and managing compensation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Media, Journalism, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of related experience in a communications or digital function, preferably related to sport.
- Ability to communicate (written and verbally) in both English and French is required.
- Ability to prioritize in a high-volume environment and thrive under pressure.
- Knowledge of and passion for Olympic sport, Canadian athletes, and the Canadian sport system.
- Self-starter, motivated, and takes initiative.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to ensuring factual information.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion, and confidence in dealing with timely or sensitive issues.
- Excellent ability to work positively in a team environment.
- Aptitude for dealing professionally with a broad cross-section of stakeholders and representatives.
- Flexibility and ability to travel and work late hours and weekends where occasionally required.
- Up to date on social media trends.
- Experience with photography is an asset.
- Excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) WordPress and MailChimp skills.
