About the Role

Lead the operation, security, availability, and ongoing development of The Star’s enterprise infrastructure and cloud environment across Sydney, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane. Play a key role in strengthening operational resilience, improving service performance, and shaping the future direction of our infrastructure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and ongoing management of enterprise infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Oversee server, storage, network, operating system, virtualisation, cloud, and standard operating environment services.
  • Maintain the availability, security, performance, and resilience of critical infrastructure platforms.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technical team, establishing clear accountabilities, performance objectives, and development plans.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance against agreed service levels and act as the senior escalation point for high-priority incidents.
  • Ensure effective 24x7 third-level support coverage for business-as-usual operations, major implementations, and peak processing periods.
  • Drive infrastructure strategy, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and continuous service improvement.
  • Govern the analysis, design, and deployment of infrastructure solutions in line with architecture, security, and technical standards.
  • Review and approve infrastructure designs and technical documentation for new and changed technology services.
  • Maintain effective infrastructure monitoring, systems management, patching, and security compliance.
  • Manage infrastructure budgets covering people, hardware, software, licensing, and third-party support arrangements.
  • Build productive relationships with business leaders, delivery teams, vendors, partners, and managed service providers.
  • Ensure infrastructure operations meet relevant regulatory, audit, risk, safety, and internal policy requirements.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading enterprise infrastructure services within a large, complex, and highly available environment.
  • Strong experience across server, storage, network, virtualisation, and cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical support, engineering, or infrastructure operations teams.
  • A strong understanding of infrastructure security, patching, monitoring, capacity management, and operational resilience.
  • Experience managing critical technology services against defined service levels and availability targets.
  • Proven capability in incident escalation, problem management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience overseeing infrastructure budgets, licensing, vendor agreements, and outsourced service providers.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure architecture, technical design governance, and service lifecycle management.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to senior technology and business stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, outcome-focused leadership style, with the ability to operate calmly and effectively in a changing environment.
  • A strong risk mindset and demonstrated experience working within regulatory, audit, and compliance frameworks.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications in cloud, infrastructure, networking, or IT service management will be highly regarded.
