About the Role
Egis is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for Steel Structures to be responsible for the structural design, planning, and oversight of project construction. The focus is on creating safe, functional, and efficient structural designs that meet client needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform project technical assessment and structural analysis to propose optimal solutions.
- Prepare structural calculation models, design calculations, and technical specifications using engineering software.
- Conduct project value engineering.
- Make design-related decisions.
- Provide design input and advisory support to the Project Manager/Engineer, coordinating technical matters.
- Report work progress to the Department Manager.
- Follow up with Project Consultant Engineers and the Resident Engineer.
- Liaise and coordinate with other designers, engineers, and architects for optimized design.
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to analyze soil investigation results.
- Provide expertise for structural assessment of existing structures, including technical surveys and integrity improvement advice.
- Check and compare contract specifications, B.O.Q., and drawings for technical study purposes and clarifications.
- Attend design-related meetings.
- Supervise the drafting team for timely preparation of shop drawings and submittals.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Suppliers, and Subcontractors regarding material suitability and availability.
Requirements
- Degree Qualified in Structural Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in Steel Structure Engineering.
- Familiarity with Infrastructural and Industrial Steel Structures, as well as Special and High-End Steel Structures.
- Experience with Eurocodes, US and British design standards, and local engineering guidelines.
- Self-driven team player with organizational skills, capable of working independently.
- Proficient in MS Office and computer skills.
- Possession of a driving license.
Skills
- Advanced command of structural analysis, modeling, and drawing drafting software (e.g., Midas, SAP2000, Staad Pro, IDEA StatiCa, Revit, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of RFEM software package is an advantage.
- Excellent understanding of best engineering practices.
- Broad technical and structural knowledge in design techniques, standards, and guidelines.
- Programming experience is an advantage.
