About the Role
The Senior IT Business Systems Analyst leads the analysis of business problems, develops requirements, and contributes to product design. This role applies advanced knowledge to complex work, supports project teams, and mentors others. They implement solutions to complex problems through independent work or collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Leads and orchestrates overall analysis, scoping, estimating, and planning for large or complex initiatives, including elicitation and validation of business requirements and dependencies.
- Leads and facilitates meetings, walkthroughs, workshops, and reviews of deliverables.
- Ensures solutions and configurations meet business requirements and enterprise-level policy guidance, and translates processes, needs, and requirements into related artifacts and documentation.
- Defines business problems/opportunities, providing clear definitions and performing benefit analysis.
- Develops and validates solution design, configuration, or package criteria with business stakeholders, articulating logical design alternatives and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Analyzes and documents current-state systems, workflows, and data flows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Performs and supports data mapping, data migration, and integration activities across systems.
- Ensures data quality and integrity considerations are embedded in solution design.
- Partners with the QA team to ensure test strategies, plans, and processes align with business requirements and enable efficiencies.
- Performs functional testing of system enhancements and supports user acceptance testing of changes, within compliance controls and standards.
- Partners with product owners and/or architects to develop technical requirements and engineering/non-functional specifications.
- Defines and manages transition to production readiness criteria, including operational, business, and technical checkpoints.
- Provides leadership by fostering and mentoring, and inspiring a team environment.
Requirements
- Degree in a related discipline (Commerce/Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.) or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior business analysis role.
- Excellent understanding of business principles and developing effective working relationships with a broad variety of business functions.
- Proven leadership and internal consulting skills, with a commitment to customer service.
- Excellent understanding of general IT project methodologies, processes, and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that rely on a structured approach.
- Proficient with data modelling techniques and tools, and data mapping from source systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in an individual and team environment.
- Communicates effectively in writing and verbally with focus on attention to detail.
- Experience and comprehension to effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are migrated to new platforms.
- Previous experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment would be an asset.
- Financial institution and/or wealth knowledge is an asset.

Salary/Compensations
- $80,400 - $130,400 annually
