About the Role

The Supervisor of the Native Youth Resource Centre (NYRC) is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and integration of NYRC and its outreach services. This role provides leadership in community development, stakeholder engagement, and culturally grounded service delivery, overseeing the NYRC facility to ensure it is a safe, welcoming, and culturally affirming space for Indigenous youth. The Supervisor supports a multi-disciplinary team, fostering collaboration for holistic service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to youth program staff, including recruitment, onboarding, setting work priorities, assigning duties, training, performance management, and conducting annual reviews.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the NYRC drop-in program and facility, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and culturally affirming environment.
  • Act as the primary site supervisor for the NYRC, responsible for the overall management of the physical space, including safety protocols, building maintenance coordination, and ensuring the site supports effective service delivery and cultural practices.
  • Support and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring collaboration and integration across roles to meet the diverse needs of Indigenous youth.
  • Foster a strong team culture through relationship-building, circle processes, and clear, consistent communication.
  • Support the continued development of outreach programming for homeless and precariously housed youth, including those in encampments, ensuring programming is grounded in Indigenous culture and worldviews.
  • Ensure staff and programs reflect and support the distinct cultural needs of Indigenous youth.
  • Work in partnership with other departments, programs, and NCFST leadership to ensure seamless and coordinated service delivery.
  • Provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed, ensuring staff and youth safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders in the development, implementation, and evaluation of youth programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records and prepare written reports, database systems as required.
  • Support data collection and analysis to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
  • Manage program budgets and expenditures in alignment with organizational policies and funding requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the NYRC and youth programming.

Requirements

  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person and/or with Indigenous communities.
  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in youth services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including coordinating diverse roles such as youth workers, outreach staff, cultural facilitators, and clinical supports.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, worldviews, and healing practices from Turtle Island, with experience integrating cultural knowledge into service delivery.
  • Proven ability to foster team development through relational leadership, circle processes, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience in program coordination, site supervision, and managing physical spaces to support safe and effective service delivery.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and supporting staff through complex situations.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments and external community partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, including budgeting, reporting, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant administrative tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to integrating the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto mission, values, and culturally grounded practices into service delivery and relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills to provide direction, guidance, and support to staff carrying caseloads in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts, elicit cooperation, negotiate effectively, and foster collaboration across teams and with external partners.
  • Excellent consultative and presentation skills to liaise with community resources, stakeholders, and service providers.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices and employee responsibilities under current legislation.
  • Demonstrated skills in program development and implementation.
  • Proficiency in data management and computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of staff, demonstrating tact, sensitivity, and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Successful candidate is required to complete a background check.
