About the Role

The Manager, Community Service is a working manager responsible for providing daily supervision of the Adult Program service providers within LightHouse’s service area, while also maintaining a caseload at 49% of programming.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an adult program case load at 49% of work time
  • Develop and implement a full schedule of programs at LightHouse campuses and in the community in response to community needs
  • Plan and coordinate adult programs in partnership with Rehab and Connections teams, from conception to execution, ensuring each event is executed on time, within budget, and meets attendance targets
  • Build strong, productive relationships with community organizations, partners, or sponsors to reach and serve diverse communities
  • Ensure that volunteer participation and retention rates remain high, with a goal of retaining at least 80% of volunteers over the course of a year
  • Coordinate logistics and communications to ensure all events are promoted at least 4 weeks in advance, with all necessary resources secured at least 2 weeks before each event
  • Manage the program attendance list for all programs and follow timely reporting and attendance guidelines and processes
  • Ensure compliance with grant guidelines and deliverables and partner with the Institutional Giving Team to secure additional funding sources
  • Collaborate with all Rehabilitation and Clinical Services departments, as well as other LightHouse departments as necessary
  • Participate in All Staff, All Services, Consumer Review, and Department Meetings
  • Follow all organization and department policies, including Elder Abuse Prevention Training and HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Day-to-day supervision of Community Services and Volunteer Services teams
  • Facilitate regular Community Services Team meetings to review program goals, progress, and challenges
  • Collaborate with Rehab and Clinical Services leadership to build and follow strategic direction for both Community Services and Volunteer Services
  • Conduct quarterly and annual staff goals and reviews
  • Ensure that team grant deliverables are being achieved and appropriately managed in partnership with VP, Rehab and Clinical Services
  • Provide budget oversight and planning
  • Ensure all Community Services and Volunteer Services staff meet administrative deadlines
  • Work together with other team members on developing service goals, procedural reviews, and agency policies
  • Ensure entry of all student service data into Salesforce and other relevant systems are entered by Wednesday for the prior week
  • Submit monthly reporting, billing, and reimbursements accurately and timely by the 5th business day of preceding month

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working in adult programming, rehabilitation teaching, or informal education
  • Experiencing managing a team is preferred
  • Bicultural and bilingual welcomed, particularly in languages like American Sign Language, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Tagalog, or Vietnamese
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft office skills and experience in database entry
  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate to staff, blind/visually impaired students, and persons in the community with varied backgrounds and viewpoints
  • Ability to formulate individual, sequential training plan
  • Ability to move about within a variety of environmental conditions
  • Knowledge of braille desired
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and in possession of problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
  • Grant and project oversight abilities
  • Ability to sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for long periods
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and lift up to 20lbs
  • Ability to work at offsite location(s) independently as needed
  • Ability to travel throughout the Greater Bay Area when required
