About the Role
Shape the future of people-facing and business-facing products at Pinterest. Utilize expertise in quantitative modeling, experimentation, and algorithms to solve complex engineering challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional partners on product and business problems, influencing product development and introducing scientific rigor to real-world products serving hundreds of millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate best practices for instrumentation and experimentation to product engineering teams.
- Apply scientific rigor and statistical methods to product creation, development, and improvement challenges, considering Pinner behaviors.
- Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of data structures and metrics, advocating for necessary changes for product development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to build and communicate key insights.
- Partner closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to build new experiences.
- Leverage AI for faster execution, exploring alternative options, synthesizing information, and automating repeatable tasks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience analyzing data in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
- Proven ability to apply scientific methods to solve real-world problems on web-scale data.
- Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches (Statistics, Machine Learning, Forecasting, Econometrics, or related fields).
- Experience solving problems within digital advertising is preferred.
- Familiarity with online experimentation and its pitfalls.
- A scientifically and statistically rigorous approach to analysis and data.
- Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity.
- Fluency in SQL (or other database languages) and a scripting language (Python or R).
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain learnings to technical and non-technical partners.
- Team player able to partner with cross-functional leadership to turn insights into actions.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in daily workflow.
- Strong track record of critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work.
- High integrity and ownership, protecting sensitive data, avoiding over-reliance on AI, and remaining accountable for final decisions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, or equivalent experience.
