About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the system requirements and interface control documents for our autonomous vehicle and truck platforms. You will translate platform-level requirements into subsystem requirements and develop verification plans, ensuring the autonomy kit's components meet the vehicle or machine specifications across various OEM platforms and off-highway trucks.
Responsibilities
- Write and maintain system and subsystem requirements for vehicle and truck platforms, including decomposition, allocation, and traceability to verification.
- Build and maintain interface control documents between the autonomy kit and vehicle platforms, and between internal subsystems.
- Manage the requirements management toolchain, including structure, attributes, baselines, change tracking, and traceability.
- Write verification plans, including method, test environment, acceptance criteria, and evidence, and confirm test results against requirements.
- Produce requirements deltas and interface control documents for new platform variants and component generations, maintaining common requirements.
- Support integration and bring-up on vehicles or machines, classifying defects and feeding changes back into requirements and interfaces.
- Write requirements and interface documentation for engineers, technicians, and partner teams.
- Collaborate with vehicle integration, hardware engineering, autonomy, robotics, functional safety, and bench/HIL engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
- Experience authoring system requirements for vehicle, robotics, or comparable hardware and software systems, including decomposition, allocation, and traceability.
- Experience writing and maintaining interface control documents or equivalent interface specifications.
- Working experience with a requirements management tool (e.g., Jama, DOORS, Polarion), including configuration.
- Experience writing verification plans and acceptance criteria, and confirming test results.
- Working knowledge of vehicle networks and interfaces (CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet), and sensor/compute interfaces and time synchronization.
- Experience on an autonomous vehicle or robotics platform.
- Experience handling autonomous driving or robotics sensor data across multiple modalities and timestamps (camera, LiDAR, radar).
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, test automation, and tooling.
- Ability to read C++.
- Experience working where requirements and platforms were in flux.
- Strong written practice covering system requirements, interface specifications, and verification reports.
- Ability to work onsite five days a week in San Francisco.
