About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure client belongings are stored, retrieved, and catalogued according to procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and regular maintenance of all equipment.
  • Complete bed bug checks and associated bagging and tagging procedures.
  • Promptly report any damage to property or equipment to the Environmental Services Manager.
  • Assist with wellness checks as time permits.
  • Suggest improvements for efficiency, working conditions, or procedures.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with security to identify safety and security needs.
  • Use prescribed safety equipment and clothing.
  • Report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries, or illnesses.
  • Follow all safety and security procedures, including fire safety.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and proper manner, ensuring personal and public safety.
  • Perform other position-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Secondary School Diploma.
  • Professional level of cleaning methods and procedures.
  • An original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening satisfactory to The Salvation Army.
  • May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • An understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army.
  • Written confirmation from a health care provider of a completed two-step Tuberculosis Skin Test screening.
  • First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in janitorial, housekeeping, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated janitorial, housekeeping, and maintenance skills at a professional level.
  • Capable of operating mechanized cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Develop an understanding and support of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships.
  • Ability to deal with people in a pleasant, professional, and responsible manner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clientele and coworkers.
