About the Role
Provide occupational therapy services to infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children. Conduct occupational therapy assessments and evaluations. This position is Per Diem, with hours and schedule based on school needs.
Responsibilities
- Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Provide mandated services to assigned children on caseload in compliance with IEP documents.
- Participate in meetings and consultations with education staff and the multidisciplinary team.
- Work effectively with parents, teaching staff, and other professionals to develop and monitor IEP services.
- Use accurate assessment skills to perform functional evaluations with reports reflecting current knowledge and evidence-based practices.
- Communicate assessment results effectively in written and verbal formats.
- Maintain accurate record keeping and IEP/IFSP goal tracking documentation.
- Provide input into and, when appropriate, fabrication of child’s assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and orthotic appliance needs.
- May serve as a clinical instructor and assist with coordination of affiliation programs for occupational therapy students.
- Actively participate in the creation and implementation of an individual and School-wide Professional Development Plan.
- Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree or Doctorate degree
- NYS PT License and Registration Certificate Required
- NPI Number Required
- New Graduates with Pediatric experience considered
- Minimum of 1 year Pediatric PT experience
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to relate to families and work collaboratively with other agency representatives
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position.
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of Elizabeth Seton Children’s.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
- Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children’s blood/body fluids.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children if necessary.
- Must hold valid driver's license and be able to travel safely throughout community.
