About the Role
The Level 2 Investigations Team Associate / AVP (Investigations Analyst) is responsible for identifying, investigating, and reporting suspicious activity and mitigating risks in a timely manner, adhering to current Case Investigations and SAR filing Team procedures. This role involves preparing and drafting SARs with clarity, managing direct customer investigations, conducting preliminary reviews of transactional data, and participating in project work such as system testing and AML initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial case reviews/investigations and continuing SARs follow-up review process.
- Review alerts escalated by the FLU and other sources to determine if activity is suspicious based on transactional data and due diligence.
- Manage direct customer investigations, including performing and evaluating investigations in the Case Management Tool (CMT), conducting due diligence, reaching out to Front Line Units (FLU-BSA), and writing SARs or Decisions Not to File.
- Respond to and remediate L3 SAR Team Feedback for case investigations.
- Perform customer and non-customer ad-hoc investigations as required.
- Provide feedback and coaching to L1 on alert reviews.
- Manage Fircosoft Filter System wire release investigations for the Bank on behalf of FIU.
- Provide updates to the L2 Case Investigations Team Lead regarding investigation timeliness.
- Perform Request-for-Information (RFI) due diligence.
- Prepare inquiry forms and data to request additional information from internal or external parties.
- Assist in overseeing duties such as IAD/CMTG/OCC Responses, Training, Reporting, Interviewing, and other management functions.
- Maintain a log of customer investigations and results, and report customers with SAR filings to the KYC Team.
- Maintain a log of Firco wire release investigations and report findings.
- Participate in Filter Management as required.
- Assist with system testing, communication of apparent anomalies, conducting special investigations, and responding to management queries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in compliance, legal, and financial industries or related fields.
- Experience in suspicious transaction/activity monitoring and investigation.
- Knowledge of U.S. Banking regulations and compliance practices.
- Knowledge of compliance risk management, with an emphasis on BSA, AML, and OFAC.
- Advanced PC skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
