About the Role

The Analyst will assist the investment team in the management and research of corporate bonds and preferred shares, conducting issuer credit analysis and supporting daily portfolio management. This role offers direct input into the development of front-office applications and requires a strong willingness to learn about tools and technologies connecting front-office applications with data sources and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and conduct fundamental credit analysis including making investment recommendations on assigned credit issuers and specific sectors.
  • Document and report on credit analysis and relevant news to the Fixed Income team.
  • Meet with corporate management teams, investment bankers and analysts.
  • Make investment recommendations and monitor the risk budgets of bonds strategies within assigned sectors.
  • Provide general support to the team in the management of corporate bond and preferred share strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between the Front-Office team and data teams / technology partners to enhance the team’s integration of AI, data visualization and platform development into the investment process.
  • Assist the team in tailoring, gathering and analyzing market and strategy-related information for reports, presentations, and client or internal inquiries.
  • Enhancing Live Dashboards, Credit research, and IFI reporting.

Requirements

  • Candidates from traditional finance backgrounds with demonstrated technical aptitude, as well as individuals from STEM and related fields who are interested in Finance and investment.
  • Interest in financial market analysis combined with a strong curiosity for technology, data, and application leverage.
  • Ability to work closely with investment professionals to understand their needs and leverage Fiera Capital’s architecture layers.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, data teams, and technology partners.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to operate in a dynamic investment management environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong business acumen, judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian bond market and corporate bond issuers.
  • An understanding of portfolio management processes and investment policies.
