About the Role

The OPEX Manager will accelerate OPEX change efforts at their assigned production plant by leading organizational/leadership development, promoting employee engagement, and driving quality and productivity improvements. This role provides coaching to the Plant Leadership Team and other individuals on organizational effectiveness, operational improvements, and best practice execution, monitoring progress and advancing transformation through ongoing coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategy and guide advancement of OPEX at the assigned production location.
  • Collaborate with Production Managers, Quality Managers, and others to develop site business plans, priorities, and goals to guide Continuous Improvement activity.
  • Act as a role model for mindsets and behaviors that foster trust, participation, and accountability.
  • Consult with OPEX Methodology Leaders to identify best practices and standardize work for improved performance.
  • Review site practices to identify opportunities and advise on organizational interventions for improving systems and practices.
  • Guide locations in prioritizing process improvements that impact production and business results, and champion waste elimination.
  • Build a coaching culture and provide individual coaching to site and above-site leadership.
  • Monitor improvement progress and sustain transformational gains through metric review and stakeholder consultation.
  • Oversee and directly supervise Fuel for Growth projects delivering over 3% savings annually.
  • Lead Improvement Projects using standardized OPEX tools and methods to enhance plant performance.

Requirements

  • College diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations, or a comparable technical field; or 3-5 years in a Business Improvement role and/or operations experience.
  • Professional certifications and experience in OPEX, World Class Manufacturing, World Class Operations, IWS, TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, Training Development, Organizational Development, Coaching, Lean, and Change Management are helpful.

  • Knowledge of production operations, particularly at the plant level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and implement organizational and cultural change to deliver results.
  • Role model in leadership development skills including feedback, coaching, listening, empowerment, and difficult conversations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including building rapport, maintaining relationships, sensitivity to needs, collaboration, facilitation, and teaching.
  • Effective coaching and influencing individuals and teams without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and solution-focused problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Project management capability with effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to see the big picture and translate details into an organizational perspective.
  • Knowledge and strong working competence in MS Office toolset.
