About the Role
Join the Enterprise Controller (Wholesale Finance) team as an Associate Director, Commercial Banking Financial Control. You will be the subject matter expert and key point of contact for the Commercial Banking business in Canada, responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and reliable financial information. This role supports internal and external reporting, disclosure requirements, and the control framework, while also seeking process improvements and leading ad-hoc projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial and regulatory reporting by reviewing monthly GL data, financial results, and variances.
- Monitor allocations and other intergroup activities.
- Ensure new products and transactions are appropriately captured and that correct accounting methodologies are applied.
- Prepare analyses considering IFRS accounting implications and reporting requirements.
- Review the monthly Global Attestation review program to ensure proper financial controls.
- Ensure global policies and procedures are adhered to by all stakeholders.
- Act as a subject matter expert for deposits and lending products accounting issues.
- Maintain technical knowledge and keep relevant teams informed of new accounting developments.
- Contribute to and represent the Finance function on IT system projects/initiatives.
- Ensure SOX and RBC EUDA documentation compliance and completeness.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed.
Requirements
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Knowledge of relevant financial and regulatory accounting standards, especially IFRS 9.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Acute attention to detail and excellent analytical thinking.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team building skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with Front Office Senior Management.
- Ability to explain complex accounting issues concisely.
