About the Role
Barton Creek Country Club is seeking a Cook 1 | Canyons Grill to join their team. The role involves efficiently preparing food items to company specifications, maintaining safe food handling procedures, and understanding large-scale food production. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of culinary fundamentals and techniques, maintain kitchen sanitation, and be able to perform plate presentations and prepare various menu items.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and to the company specifications, with limited supervision from management.
- Maintain safe food handling procedures at all times.
- Understand large scale food production and times required to complete tasks.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with health department guidelines.
- Properly and safely use all culinary equipment.
- Learn all menu items produced by assigned station.
- Perform plate presentations that meet specifications.
- Prepare a mixture of plated style items.
- Production of orders to include Grilling, Roasting, and Baking fish, steaks, chicken and shellfish.
- Perform work assignments to meet proper quantities within a necessary time frame.
- Communicate with other team members.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in stressful situations.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
- At least 2 years culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
- ServSafe or equivalent food handlers certification required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills required.
- Knife skills required.
- Basic mathematical skills and an understanding of weights and measures.
- Familiarity with batch and quantity cooking.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced high-pressure work environment.
- Flexible scheduling to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
