About the Role
This role is critical for ensuring smooth and efficient operations by assigning work, vehicles, and equipment to operators, while also managing reassignments and providing assistance during disruptions or emergencies. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills to maintain service levels and ensure safety.
Responsibilities
- Assign work, vehicles and onboard equipment to operators and maintain check-out logs
- Assign operators in the event of absences or increased service volumes to minimize disruptions
- Maintain accurate logs for attendance
- Provide information on customers, cancellations, and directional assistance
- Monitor operators and trip status, adjust reassignments as necessary to ensure on-time performance
- Provide assistance to operators in the event of emergency or vehicle malfunctions, communicating with relevant staff
- Reschedule trips as necessary in the event of vehicle malfunction, traffic, or emergency situations
- Reconcile trip manifests by operators
- Document daily events related to service accurately and appropriately
- Collect and catalog lost and found articles
- Maintain a safe work area and a focus on safety
- Assist drivers with informational material as needed
- Report to managers any drivers failing to meet duty obligation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 2 years radio and/or window dispatch experience in a fast-paced environment
- Transit environment experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and objectively
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Must have a valid driver license
- CDL Class B preferred
- Ability to handle stress, including emergency situations
- Uses good judgment in making decisions in emergency and routine situations
- Proficiency in Email and Internet; Microsoft Office Applications Suite
- Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 environment, including holidays
- Must be flexible when it comes to company scheduling needs
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism with internal and external callers to establish a positive rapport
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be organized, detailed oriented and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- Contingent upon receiving a favorable background check
- Must pass a physical examination
