About the Role

d|bar by Chef Daniel Boulud is a stylish lobby lounge in Toronto’s luxury Yorkville district, offering refined cocktails, contemporary dining, and a vibrant social atmosphere. As Assistant d|bar Manager, you will support the d|bar General Manager in daily operations, focusing on service excellence, beverage programming, sales performance, and leading the front-of-house team. You will be a visible leader, fostering a positive, professional, and performance-driven culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall operation of d|bar across all meal periods, ensuring smooth, efficient, and consistent service delivery.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate front of house Food & Beverage teams by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Assist with staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage, operational efficiency, and compliance with labour targets.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the floor to monitor service quality and uphold service standards.
  • Drive beverage sales through team coaching, upselling initiatives, guest engagement, and strong product knowledge.
  • Support the execution and evolution of the cocktail, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverage programs.
  • Greet and engage guests professionally, building relationships and handling complaints with confidence.
  • Collaborate with Culinary and Front of House leadership to coordinate service, update menus, and support special offerings.
  • Maintain awareness of beverage trends, competitor activity, and market developments.
  • Support revenue generation initiatives through strategic floor management and guest engagement.
  • Prepare and review daily and weekly payroll, labour reports, and operational documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support cost control, purchasing, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with team members and management.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of management experience, ideally within a luxury hotel, fine-dining, or high-profile bar environment.
  • Strong expertise in spirits, wine, cocktails, beverage trends, and bar operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Toronto restaurant scene.
  • Exceptional guest-interaction and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong command of the English language.
  • Flexibility to work shifts based on operational needs.
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification.
  • Legal work authorisation in Canada.
