About the Role
The Community Case Manager provides counseling, advocacy, and case management services to survivors of domestic violence at The Riley Center’s Community Office. This includes support groups, drop-in support, and follow-up services for former residents of the Riley Center residential programs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide domestic violence services to Community Office clients, including telephone support, home visits, counseling, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, referrals, and assistance with paperwork.
- Refer clients to appropriate domestic violence services in the community.
- Assume responsibility for Community Office statistical and data collection for quarterly reports.
- Attend Riley Center staff meetings, supervision meetings, and training.
- Participate in appropriate ongoing staff development and training.
- Facilitate support groups.
- Participate in ongoing cross-training to perform duties in other departments of the agency as needed.
- Maintain and compile client records, including individual case notes, daily log, and statistics, accurately and timely.
- Share office management duties, including maintenance, donations, mail, and supporting volunteers.
- Receive training to conduct Coordinated Entry assessments and provide coverage for the role as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BA degree in Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field; experience and/or certifications may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- 40-hour DV certification required; training must be completed upon hire if not certified.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence direct services and government agencies is preferred.
- Average ability to write, read, and speak English.
- Demonstrated skills in counseling, case management, and client advocacy.
- Familiarity with Harm Reduction philosophy and approach.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to document clearly and legibly.
- Understanding of domestic violence issues, especially in the context of race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
- Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrants, low-income communities, and communities of color.
- Working knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
- Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent reporting skills, including use of Microsoft Office and data entry.
- Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a small office.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and staff.
- Commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco.
- Covid vaccination and negative TB test result required.
- Background check completed upon acceptance of job offer.
