About the Role
The Lead Sales Associate assists customers in locating and purchasing merchandise, operates a cash register, stocks and recovers merchandise, and cleans the store. This role acts in a lead capacity in the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, aiming to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers, providing superior customer service leadership.
- Operate cash register and scanner to process customer purchases, collect payment, and make change.
- Bag merchandise and assist customers with merchandise as necessary.
- Receive, unpack, stock, restock, rotate merchandise, and build merchandise displays.
- Clean the store, including taking out trash, dusting and mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms and stockrooms.
- Set up sidewalk displays.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of planograms.
- Open and close the store under the direction of the Store Manager.
- Perform additional duties typically handled by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in their absence.
Requirements
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
- Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
- Understanding of safety policies and practices.
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise.
- Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats, and rolltainers.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently, and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional climbing using a step ladder up to heights of six feet.
- Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Occasional or regular driving and providing own transportation for bank deposits, management meetings, and travel to other stores.
