About the Role
VERG Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for its Internal Medicine team. This role involves caring for patients with complex medical needs, assisting with advanced procedures, providing hands-on nursing care, and supporting clients. The position offers the opportunity to work with a specialty team, gain exposure to advanced procedures, and receive VTS mentorship in Internal Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, including GI, nasal, and airway scopes.
- Support advanced imaging and other diagnostic procedures.
- Place IV catheters and assist with endotracheal intubation and anesthetic induction.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain specialized scope equipment.
- Monitor patients and provide attentive nursing care.
- Gather patient histories and communicate updates to the Internal Medicine team.
- Review discharge instructions with clients and teach at-home care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and coordinate patient care with other departments.
Requirements
- Strong veterinary nursing skills.
- Close attention to detail.
- Interest in complex medical cases.
- Internal Medicine or other specialty experience is preferred.
- Compassionate and attentive patient care.
- Confident with IV catheter placement.
- Comfortable assisting with anesthesia and advanced diagnostics.
- Clear and kind communication with clients and coworkers.
- Ability to stay organized while managing multiple patients and priorities.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in specialty medicine.
