About the Role

The Electrical Engineer is a key technical contributor driving product development from concept through production. This is a hands-on opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative team where expertise in power electronics, PCB design, and hardware validation directly shape product design and reliability. As a proactive problem solver, the Electrical Engineer thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with the desire to drive significant impact. Technically deep and execution oriented, this role drives electrical design from R&D through production release.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical circuits and PCBs for LED drivers, control systems, and power electronics.
  • Utilize Altium Designer for PCB layouts and maintain all ECAD data.
  • Develop early-phase R&D prototypes and proof-of-concept designs.
  • Create, execute, and document hardware validation plans.
  • Support UL certification on new product development.
  • Drive continuous product improvements and iteration through field analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Design and implement production test fixtures for PCBA validation at volume.
  • Manage assigned projects end-to-end, maintaining timelines, escalating risks, and communicating status proactively.
  • Own BOM accuracy for assigned products and verify components against design requirements.
  • Validate incoming parts and assemblies against design specifications.
  • Manage component alternate approvals and proactively qualify alternates.
  • Support internal SMT/PCBA process as a technical expert.
  • Perform forensic analysis of electrical field returns and internal defects, driving corrective actions.
  • Partner with manufacturing on first-run production builds.
  • Establish electrical test methods and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to Sales and Support teams as needed.
  • Live and reinforce G&G core values.
  • Contribute as a key member of the G&G Engineering team, fostering a culture of problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering team members.

Requirements

  • Must align with our Core Values.
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience in power electronics design and PCB development.
  • 5 plus years of hands-on experience designing switching power supplies, LED drivers, or similar power electronics products is essential.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout, or similar software.
  • Strong lab skills: oscilloscope, bench power supply, DMM, and the ability to debug hardware at the circuit level independently.
  • Experience working through UL certification (1598, 8750, or similar) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with EMC testing methodologies (conducted/radiated immunity, IEC 61000 series) is a plus.
  • Embedded firmware experience (C, Python, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with industrial LED lighting products or three-phase power systems is a strong plus.
