About the Role
Lead the resolution of complex and confidential respect, safety, and violence in the workplace complaints, ensuring compliance with the Canada Labour Code and applicable workplace policies. Conduct timely, unbiased, and fair investigations or other resolution methods like conciliation. Manage complaint intake, documentation, and reporting, including annual Canada Labour Code reporting. Collaborate with business partners and report to the Director, Legal Counsel, Employment and Investigations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct timely and confidential workplace investigations, including discrimination, harassment (sexual included), and violence.
- Perform interviews, gather and analyze evidence, assess credibility, and write formal investigative reports with findings.
- Provide recommendations aligned with legal practices, policies, and collective agreements.
- Act as a conciliator for parties choosing this resolution method.
- Support policy development, interpretation, and training delivery.
- Manage the intake of investigation files, case management, and post-investigative tasks.
- Regularly report on workplace complaints, investigations, and other resolution avenues.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience managing and resolving workplace complaints and conducting complex workplace investigations.
- Experience facilitating alternative dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated experience managing and resolving workplace complaints in compliance with the Canada Labour Code and applicable workplace policies.
- Experience documenting investigative findings and writing clear, concise, and complete reports with evidence analysis.
- Demonstrated awareness, understanding, and experience identifying and addressing discrimination and harassment, including racism and systemic/intersectional forms.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple investigations, identify risks, react to changing situations, and manage multiple priorities judiciously and timely.
- Ability to develop and improve approaches in line with legislative changes and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to handle confidential information maturely and professionally.
- Strong ability to multi-task and respond effectively to changing priorities and demands.
- Ability to develop trust, rapport, and influence partners and business leaders.
